M/V Islander Virtual Tour

Our vessel, M/V Islander, was designed and built specifically to carry passengers comfortably off the Southern California and Baja coast. From the Sea of Cortez to the Revillagigedos to Guadalupe Island, the Islander has seen them all. Great White Shark enthusiasts should be encouraged to know that the Islander was part of the fleet that first noted the presence of White Sharks at Guadalupe Island. Our vessel is inspected and maintained to not only meet, but exceed, the United States Coast Guard’s stringent standards. Our home fleet, located in San Diego, is the largest passenger carrying fleet in the world.

Dive Equipment

Islander is outfitted with Twin Bauer air compressors for reliability. Redundant systems are a necessity while diving California waters as well as remote locations like Guadalupe Island. Our 3600 cu ft of air storage also ensure quick air fills. Islander has two sit-down dive benches designed to hold thirty tanks with gear storage underneath. These benches are aboard only for Scuba trips. Islander’s custom built dive step is only installed for appropriate trips as well. It is designed for California diving with safety and utility in mind. Whether it’s boarding kayaks or diving, our dive step allows safe entry and exit from the water. The hinged ladder is 7 feet wide and free of pinch points. It moves independently from the boat making boarding safe and easy even in choppy conditions. Photographers will appreciate two large camera tables on the aft dive deck. Each one has two levels and measure 3’x3’. Lastly, Islander uses a circulating seawater mask rinse – a must for repetitive cool water dives.

Equipment Handling

Islander is equipped with a mechanical boom for handling heavy items such as skiffs, shark cages, jet skis and research equipment. Islander’s boom can handle up to 1000 lbs. and is designed to service both the upper and main deckhandling shark cages, jet skis and other heavy equipment. Islander is fitted with a 24ft boom capable of lifting 1000 lbs. of deadweight.

In the Galley

The salon area is spacious with ample room for twenty passengers at one seating. Complete with TV, DVD and a large selection of movies, the salon is an excellent place to wind down after a day of diving.

Islander Charters recognizes the importance of fine food on the water. The galley is fully equipped for any style of cooking providing passengers with a wide range of cuisine. From traditional meals to the freshest fish in the world, Islander Charters cuts no corners in an effort to present a truly memorable dining experience. Dietary restrictions are not a problem and the chef will accommodate your needs. Vegetarian options are also available upon request.

The Interior

The Islander is designed with passenger comfort and safety in mind. The boat has 10 air conditioned staterooms offering ample storage and washbasins. All bunks have single beds with foam mattresses, linens, blankets & pillows. All doors can be secured from inside. Main deck has two complete heads, each with hot and cold showers.
